BOOMERANG TRAINING FOR WOMEN RETURNERS
Preparing to be a Woman Returner
Too often women returners take their leave from work without having planned a provisional return strategy. This training is delivered to women who are preparing for their break from work and provides a framework for creating pro-active strategies to support them during the handover, absence and returning to work phases. This workshop covers the following :
- Developing a return to work strategy in partnership with your manager
- Managing expectations and dealing with emotions
- Maintaining knowledge and skills whilst away from the workplace
- Developing networks to prevent isolation
Creating positive strategies for work-life balance
Women returners apportion significant value to the ability to balance work and family life. Studies indicate that many employees today ‘work to live’ as opposed to ‘live to work’. A balance between work and family or social life can, therefore, ensure that an employee remains happy in the workplace.
This workshop for women returners will aim at helping women to manage family and work commitments, facilitating a successful return to work, and will include:
- Setting goals for work-life balance & the key challenges to be faced
- Developing strategies in time management & dealing with multiple responsibilities
- Preventing and managing stress
Planning for career development
Research shows that employees are likely to stay in jobs if they feel fulfilled. Recognition and the opportunity for growth are motivational factors that can be the key to retaining women returners who have a strong need to feel valued, challenged, and perceived as a potential talent pool. This workshop will aim to facilitate women in planning their career pathway within the organisation and will focus on:
- Setting career goals
- Self-directed learning for personal development
- Gaining confidence and skills in the selection & interview process
Rebuilding confidence and managing change
Through our work we have identified concerns facing women returners, particularly relating to out-of-date knowledge and skills and the rate and pace of change within organisations. These cause a lack of confidence and loss of motivation upon returning to work. This workshop will aim to provide women with strategies and coping mechanisms for returning to work and will focus on:
- Personal transition – the impact on emotions
- Developing self-esteem, confidence and assertive skills
- Strategies for managing self through personal change
